Rajat’s education and scientific research experiences stems from his unique life journey which was shaped by multi-cultural experiences from across the globe. After finishing his undergraduate degree from his home town in India, he had been to Singapore in pursue research, completed his doctoral degree in the USA, and finally relocate to his current position in Europe for postdoctoral training. Similar to his life trajectory, Rajat has happily also embraced a multi-faceted approach in dealing with science. Over the years, he had gained diverse training in catalysis, ranging from synthetic organic chemistry, quantum-chemical calculations and physical organic experimentations; thus preparing to develop an interdisciplinary approach to science.
Rajat’s key scientific contribution so far has been unravelling the role of electrostatically driven non-covalent interactions in asymmetric catalysis and developing novel organocatalytic olefin activation.
